my photos wont shut down and so im not able to shut my mac down

my photos app wont close and so im not able to restart or shut my laptop down.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.6

Photos keeps opening I have an IMac 27" from 2021 which I use for various things such as mail, watching YouTube and I do lots of reading. However, I find at various times, I could be watching a video or reading a newspaper or puttering around on the internet that my Apple Photos app keeps opening. I shut it but it will reappear when it wants to and it is very frustrating. I had done something about a year ago and it stopped for about 19 months, but it has started up again. So, I am wondering if anyone else has dealt with this problem and has some suggestions. Thanks a lot. Wayne

Rebuild of Photos app caused all photos to disappear! I rebuilt my iMac's Photo app bc I could not delete photos but after rebuild, all photos are now gone!

Clean Up Tool Not Working in Photos App Hi, I’m facing an issue with the Clean Up tool in the Photos app on my Mac. Every time I try to use it, the app either freezes, crashes, or doesn’t apply the changes at all. I’m currently on macOS Tahoe and Photos version Steps I tried so far: Restarted Photos app and my Mac Checked for macOS updates Tried on multiple photos But the problem still persists. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions or workarounds would be appreciated. Thanks!

If all else fails just hold down the power key until unit shuts down.. (it will take a few seconds)
