i just got a new apple watch se and during pairing it asked me to update. The problem is it will start downloading the update then it will pause and say "you can resume the download when you are connected to wifi

i just got a new apple watch se and during pairing it asked me to update. The problem is it will start downloading the update then it will pause and say "you can resume the download when you are connected to wifi” and I am connected to WiFi and the Apple Watch and phone are charged fully and are on the charger. I’ve restarted the phone and watch several times went back to the app and it still does the same thing. Someone pls help i paid $200 for this watch.
