Missing ibooks

I do not want to continue with iCloud controlling what I can read when I turn off the drive. I only turned it on to sync a book off my older iPad. As a result of turning the drive on I no longer have access to my books and pdf documents in iBooks unless I access via icloud. Is there a simple way to get my iBooks back before I the cloud took them over?

PDFs in iBooks on iPad lost - how to retrieve? Hi, I have always backed up my iPad to my Mac. Recently when I changed iPads I lost all the pdfs in iBooks. They were not purchased 'books' but collections of important info I thought were saved safely. Not changed Apple ID or anything else. Is there a way I can restore the contents of iBooks from a past backup without screwing up the rest of my iPad settings or access these documents directly on my Mac from the backup? Help appreciated.

Cannot turn off Books iCloud syncing. I use Books on my iMac to store PDFs and sync them to my iPad and iPhone. It annoys me every time there's a major OSX update iCloud syncing is automatically turned on. I have to go through the same routine of recovering all my PDFs off iCloud and turning it off to rebuilt my Books. However now I have found with Sonoma I am not able to turn off Books in my iMac's iCloud Drive settings. When I turn it off, close setting then reopen the setting is turned on again. Not only do I not want to pay for more iCloud storage, I have a lot of manuals in there, but I need some of these PDFs synced to my iPad since I do not always have a network connection. Any way to get my Books iCloud sync setting to turn off and stay off? Or an alternate way to sync and view PDFs without using iCloud.

Deleted Apple Books from icloud drive Accidentally deleted the Apple Books app from the iCloud users on my iMac using iOS 18.3.1 and cannot restore it. I have looked in icloud.com/recovery and it says there are no files.
