Trying To Send A Screenshot Image Via Messages (Text) With IPhone

Greetings All,

I often experience difficulties when trying to send a screenshot image using the Messages app on my iPhone. I can usually send a picture saved in the Photos app via the Messages app without issue, but trying to send a screenshot image saved to the Photos app via the Messages app often fails to send. I am currently using an iPhone SE 1st generation running iOS 15.7.6. My cellular service provider is AT&T. I have taken cellular signal strength and the capability of the receiving party’s smartphone and cellular service into consideration. I have read about Text/MMS/SMS picture size limitations, image file type, image file size, image aspect ratio, image pixel count, image resizing, image file compression, and other various related topics, but I am not an expert in any of these subjects. I have used the “edit” feature in Photos and I have used an app called “Image Size” to reduce the size of the images. Sometimes I am able to manipulate a saved screenshot image in a way which it successfully sends via Messages, but often it fails to send. I am hopeful that some of you may have some good advice and tips to offer. I am in search of the easiest way to successfully send a screenshot image via Messages without loosing any of the overall image shape to cropping or resizing. Any and all of your thoughts and suggestions on this topic are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and assistance!

Best regards,

Hello imorndew,

Are you unable to send screenshot files to anyone or is it just with a specific person? Are you trying to send it to people that are using the iMessage service, regular SMS/MMS messaging, or both?

Here's some steps you can try for issues with sending messages: If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone or iPad

You'll also want to make sure you've covered the basics like restarting the device and making sure it's up to date.

Restart your iPhone

Update your iPhone or iPad

If you're still unable to send screenshot files, you'll want to contact Apple to report the issue: Get Support

Cheers!

Greetings Jeff_W.,

Thank you for your reply!

I have been experiencing this issue with a small number of different recipients, so I assume it is a problem with my iPhone and/or cellular service(?). Some (possibly most?) of the recipients are using Android smartphones. I do not use iMessage, I have this feature disabled in the Messages app settings on my iPhone. I do not know when a text message I send using Messages on my iPhone is “SMS”, “MMS”, or another type of text message.

Thank you for your help and assistance with this issue.
