Hi madzoired95,

As you posted in the Music section of Apple Support Communities, it would appear you're experiencing a sound problem. The article If you can’t hear sound from your Mac speakers may prove helpful if that is the case.

If not, then additional details will be necessary to better understand the nature of your concern and to offer more relevant suggestions. For instance, are you playing locally stored content, content streamed from the internet, content shared from another device, or something else? Are you using the built-in speakers of your Mac, wired or wireless headphones, or something else? Does this happen in a specific app and not elsewhere, or is all audio affected?

Regards.

Thank's for the reply (turns out I was looking in the wrong place for community response)

Ah, trying to play music I purchased from iTunes (this used to work perfectly until my last purchase)

Oh I just discovered in sound preferences, the device that would be listed as the built in speakers is missing from the output device list? There's only the headphone jack (which also carries the same problem) Strange how the startup sound works perfectly and most of the notification sounds (sort of) work (weather permitting). Beginning to suspect this hardware could be "on it's way out".
