cloud backups

When I look at the content of my backup on the cloud the majority of it is “backups” then messages and photos, etc what exactly is contained in the backups. Every previous backup I’ve ever done? Or just the most recent one? I’m out of room and if I don’t have to keep the majority of old backups I’d rather just use that space instead of buying more storage

iCloud backs up most of the data on the iPhone on the first backup. After that, only any changes that have occurred since the last backup will be backed up on the next backup, etc.

Another way to say the same thing......once data has been backed up, the same data is not backed up again.

So, the current backup is an accurate copy of everything that is current on your iPhone.

Clearly your iCloud storage is full. You need to add more storage.
