FCP: Slow down text

I am a teacher who is trying to make reading videos for students. The words should appear on the screen slightly faster than I speak so the eye is drawn to the incoming text. When I use the Custom title, the slowest In Duration is still too fast. What can I do to slow down the text? I know I can use keyframes for each word, but is there an easier way? Ideally, the voice and text would match, but I'm okay if the text is slightly ahead.

That particular title has its timing "fixed" so it cannot really be controlled well. Resizing the title makes no difference in animation timing.

Try this substitution:

https://fcpxtemplates.com/?smd_process_download=1&download_id=23116

It changes the timing to % of Length of Clip. When you drag out the length of the Title in the storyline, you can slow down the timing of the animation. You can set the in or out animation to last 100% of the length of the clip (and even mix them together... you'll have to experiment.)

The parameter differences are:

Custom Title Custom - SC Title

In Duration In End Offset % [marks the end time of the start animation starting at 0]

Out Duration Out Start Offset % [marks the starting time of the end animation starting

at the % specified.]

Otherwise, everything else should work the same.
