why isn't my apple id password working when I type on system settings?

why isn't my apple id password working when I type it in the system settings? I need to make some changes to my settings like turning on the screen recording for Zoom but it asks me to put in my password. I know I am putting in the correct password but it doesn't work. I have no idea how to fix this problem.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.4

Hi lovelykaren10,

We'll be glad to provide some insight on this for you. If your Mac is requesting your password for system changes, it's more likely that it's requesting your computer's administrator password; rather than your Apple ID password. That would be the password that is used to log into your Mac after restarting it.

If you've forgotten that password, you'll need to follow the steps here: If you forgot your Mac login password

Cheers.
