Monitor out of range when closing 13 inch 2020 MacBook Pro

The problem I'm having with my monitor is that it works perfectly fine when I have my macbook open, but displays "out of range" when I close my macbook. I have tried nearly everything, changing the power settings, the resolution, restarting in safe mode, resetting my display. I have even took screenshots with my external keyboard while my macbook was closed and it still doesn't work. I'm not sure why this just started happening, it has been working perfectly up until last night. I'm not sure what else to do to solve the issue.
