Poor Wi-Fi signal on MacBook Air upstairs

I have a MacBook Air, the (latest?) model from 2021 purchased new in 2021. Apple M1 chip. Using Ventura 13.4. I get one, maybe two bars in my bedroom, which is upstairs and around the corner from the router. Linksys Wi-Fi system; it had been in a back office in our home, but now moved to another one (that used to be a downstairs bedroom). We have a Wi-Fi extender, and have tried it in several locations, including the living room, upstairs hallway, and master bedroom.

When I sit downstairs or near the W-Fi router, it's OK -- three bars.

Consequently, my husband, who uses my old MacBook Air, bought in 2013, has no Wi-fi signal problem, always getting 3 bars in the bedroom. He thinks there could be a problem with my 2021 model. Could there be? Any suggestions? Thank you.

A poor signal is not an Apple issue. That's something happening between the source, or to the source itself, and the Mac.

The Mac may be overly sensitive because to its specific antenna placement in relation to your router's signal orientation ... horizontal or vertical polarization.

Obstacles can affect signal strength, especially metal ones. So can router antenna orientation. Lots of possible ways to attenuate a signal.
