RAM upgrade to 64 GB for iMac Late 2015 27" 5k retina.. 3.2 ghz quad core intel core i5.

I have heard that OWC offers an upgrade for my iMac that would upgrade to 64 GB. Apple specs says 32GB is max. Has anyone heard or tried this? I am currently at 32GB and would like to know if 64 GB would be possible/ beneficial.

Yes. 64GB is possible. Wether it's beneficial to you, will depend on your workflow and requirements.

You can check the Memory pressure in Activity Monitor. If it's green, then extra RAM will not do much as your current RAM is sufficient for your current workflow.

If you're looking to speed up boot time, app and document opening and saving time then additional memory will not do it for you. A faster boot drive is what you want. That can be achiever by cloning your current boot drive to an external SSD and booting and running from it.

If you decide to go that route here's how to clone with CCC: How to clone with Carbon Copy Cloner
