Visible Timecode on iMovie 10.3.6

In earlier versions of iMovie, you could show timecode in the preferences. That option is no longer available.

This questions has been asked before and I haven't seen any answers. How can I see the timecode at the top of my timeline. I can still add markers, but it's not the same to see the timecode. Can anyone help?

The only time code in iMovie is the time counter located just above the timeline.

If I need a more precise counter I do a screen recording of my iPhone's Stop Watch feature while it is recording.

Then I transfer the recording to my Mac with Air Drop. Next, using the Command-Shift-5 feature I record just the display numbers of the timer while it is playing. I get this:

I then import my timer recording into iMovie and insert it as a Picture in Picture like this:

However, there probably are commercial time coders that you can purchase and insert them into an iMovie

project.
