My mac os (ventura 13.x) did again update without asking.

Why is my doing some background updating and just showing 60s warning before restart if I disabled all auto updates. It happened at least two times already. What else should I do to prevent it?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.4

How can I avoid unwanted Apple software updates? I have been getting unwanted software updates for my Mac, despite in my preferences I have "Automatically keep my Mac up to date" unchecked. what if there isn't a software update to click listed in the system preferences I received a warning stating that my Mac hadn't been updated for over 600+ days. I went online to see what I could do and it stated to go to apple menu hit system preferences then click onto software update. It isn't there. Is there anywhere else I can check.
