If you heard a random voice coming from your iPhone saying, "you think that's funny?" without any apparent reason or context, it could be an unexpected audio notification from a messaging app, social media app, or a prank/joke app installed on your device. It's possible that an app triggered that specific phrase as part of its functionality or a notification sound.

To investigate further, you can check your notification settings on your iPhone to see if any apps have permission to play sounds or send voice notifications. You can also review the recently installed or updated apps on your device to identify any suspicious or unfamiliar apps that might be responsible for the voice.

If you feel an unauthorized person/app is remotely using, controlling or monitoring your device, then that is possible only if you have done one or more of the following Don'ts...

  1. Don't hand over an iPhone to kids or to a stranger without Enabling Guided Access
  2. Don't share Apple IDs
  3. Don't Jailbreak
  4. Don't share sensitive information pertaining to your device
  5. Don't give in to Phishing
  6. Don't plug in your device in Airports and Public places through third-party cables and trust the device. Beware of Juice Jacking. (Especially in India)
  7. Don't leave your iPhone unlocked and unattended in public places like offices, schools, malls, etc.

If one of the above is true then quickly change the Apple ID Password and Return iPhone settings to their defaults.

This just happened to me. My daughter and I were using the stickers screen on the iMessage to write a text to my mom. All of a sudden we could hear background noise coming from the phone’s speaker, and man’s voice said “on his way to an ice cream social…” We said “hello, hello!” Several times but it was clear the man could not hear us. I tried to quit apps (swipe up on the phone’s minimized/background app screens) but the conversation would not go away. I finally had to shut down the phone and restart it.
