What does it mean to shuffle vs. play?

The support for music lists shuffle or play, but does not explain what shuffle means. What is shuffle?

Play will play ticked/checked tracks in the currently displayed order. Shuffle will pick from the available tracks at random, unless the track is marked as Skip when shuffling.
