set beta on watchOS 9.5 by mistake, can not deactivate

By mistake I set my watch (running watchOS 9.5.1) to update for beta versions. The update procedure then asks me to update the iphone (running iOS 16.5.1) to 17 beta before the watch can update - which I did not do. So iphone and watchOS versions are unchanged. So far so good. I don't want beta versions neither on iphone nor watch. BUT I can't revert the setting on the watch to update only to released versions, which blocks me from updating to recent 9.5.2.

Any hints or workarounds?

I had the same issue, resolved by unpairing my Apple Watch, which makes a backup on your iPhone. Start the pairing process again and select restore from backup.

Checking for software update puts you back on the stable release.

there is an important difference to the referenced article: in my case, the watch is still on version 9.5.1. When opening the settings page for the software update, the page is not displayed but the message telling to update iphone software beforehand is shown. I can not turn off the beta setting.
