iTunes can't locate songs and they seem to have been deleted from my hard drive.

My whole library is full of exclamation points and when I individually search for each song I don't see them on the hard drive. Two missing songs had a .mp3.asd extension which makes me think I edited them in ableton at some point and ableton saved the .asd file into the same folder where the song was stored within the itunes media folders. I tried consolidating files in itunes but there's no point if the files don't appear to be anywhere on the hard drive! 2012 Macbook pro with a SSD that I installed 7 years ago. Is the SSD or itunes corrupt? I've been manually transferring playlists to my new mac by dragging music out of itunes and into folders, I don't see why that would be a problem. What is going on?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14
