iMac Forgot my Password and Do Not Have Filevault Key

Hello,

I am not able to log into my iMac because I forgot both my password and filevault key. Is it possible to for me to just do a hard reset on the iMac and make an account like that?

Use FileVault to encrypt your Mac startup disk - Apple Support

If you lose both your account password and your FileVault recovery key, you won't be able to log in to your Mac or access the data on your startup disk.

Apparently, if you were given the option to "Allow my iCloud account to unlock my disk," and took it, you might be able to recover from forgetting your local Mac user account password.

But it sounds like Apple doesn't have access to your unencrypted recovery key. If you didn't choose the iCloud unlocking option at the time you set up FileVault, and you don't have the key now, you're up the creek without a paddle, as far as retrieving data from that disk. Hope you have recent backups for use in restoring the machine after it comes back from the service shop.
