I thought there might be a possibility to import the media and "copy" the editing of the project.

You post does not contain the thread to which you are referring, so not possible to comment on it's content.
I can't tell how you got to where you are, but in general, libraries created in newer versions of iMovie cannot be opened by older versions of iMovie. You will get an error message to that effect. You need to open the library with the newer version of iMovie.
