Apple Cash no longer working for son's Apple Watch (Set up in family setup)

My son has an AppleWatch SE. I was able to set up Apple Cash, send him $, and he was able to use some of the money at a retailer. He has a balance of $5 (verified when I look at our family sharing settings) but the Apple Cash card in wallet says "!Card Unavailable - Remove this card and try adding it again." There is no place for me to remove this card on his watch - not on the wallet screen, nor in Settings>Wallet. It even showed the $5 balance under device info, where it gave the option to remove, so I tried it. Instead of fixing the problem, the Apple Cash card is still unavailable and with no where to add it back on his watch.

Has anyone found a resolution to this problem? I tried looking in the forum and did not see anything, however, I could have missed it.

Thanks!

After much searching, my son figured out you have to have your watch passcode on to enable cards in Apple Cash. It only tells you this when you turn off the passcode feature

Make sure the Watch is updated to latest Watch OS and then do a forced restart of the Watch. Support articles are linked below.

Update Apple Watch software - Apple Support

>> To force restart, hold down the side button and the Digital Crown at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. <<

Restart Apple Watch - Apple Support

If that doesn’t work, unpair the Watch from your iPhone and then pair the devices again.
