trying to restore /update my ipad 8 but it keeps saying error disk full

As described, perhaps you are attempting to update your iPad using your Windows PC or Mac computer? If so, the “disk full” error that you see relates to the computer - and not the iPad.
Check the available disk space on your computer. The HDD/SSD or a data partition may have insufficient free space into which the iPad update can be downloaded, unpacked and verified.
Yes I’m trying to update it through my lap top, any suggestions on how to clear that out with it deleting anything important
