I saw a previous answer to this... they suggested to go into Privacy Settings and set "hide IP address". That did not work for me. That answer was in 12/2022. It is now 6/2023. I have Ventura 13.4 OS. Does anyone have any other "fixes"?
I should also add... I bought Nord VPN in 4/2023. Could Nord have an affect on my Mail not loading HTML content directly? Tnx.

Put it in a different Desktop, then ctrl-click on the Dock icon and choose "This Desktop" from the Options submenu. Do the same for Safari in another Desktop.

Hi! Perhaps you misunderstand. I am send you 2 screen shots to try to explain. One program opens on top of the other, and vice versa. So, I have to choose... do I want to look at Safari, or do I want to look at my Mail? I can't slide back and forth to view both at the same time on 2 different "Desktops". Does that make sense?

If not active, click the radio button for Protect Mail Activity so the blue check mark displays

It looks (to me) like this thread got derailed by an issue of multiple desktops. Anyway, I've got the OP's problem of Mail's remote content not loading automatically.
I'm on a 2014 MacBook Air running macOS 11.7.10 and Mail is version 14.0. The "fix," AIUI, is to do something in the "Privacy" tab in Mail's Preferences. The problem I have with that is there is no Privacy tab.
Any suggestions?
macOS 11 doesn't have that feature.
Check the Viewing tab for a checkbox to block remote content. I can't remember where it was.
Yeah, that only came about in Ventura (13.0)
Hi Brain, I like your moniker 👍. Yep, I tried by disabling it, and still no help. I also thought maybe Nord was getting in my way because I've been trying to log into my Cell Service, Boost Mobile, and it would not let me log in...so I thought, "well.... maybe Boost is looking for my old IP address"... and I still can't log into their App (with Nord disabled)....but that's a Boost issue, not a Mac issue.

If you want to "slide back and forth" between 2 different Desktops, set Safari and Mail to Full Screen.
Thanks Barney -15E...... I got it !! Seriously. This knowledge will change my life. In my version of Ventura 13.4, I don't see a "This Desktop" but I do see "New Window" and both apps are open on 2 different pages!

You can disable Protect Mail Activity at any time in iOS and iPadOS by going to Settings > Mail > Privacy Protection, then tapping to turn off Protect Mail Activity. On Mac, go to Mail > Settings > Privacy, then deselect Protect Mail Activity. If you choose to disable Protect Mail Activity, the Hide IP Address feature will still mask your IP address using the same two-separate-internet-relays design. You can disable Hide IP Address at any time in iOS and iPadOS by going to Settings > Mail > Privacy Protection, then tapping to turn off Hide IP Address. On Mac, go to Mail > Settings > Privacy, then deselect Hide IP Address.

So your issue is not just Mail. Something is preventing you from logging into websites as well.
My bailiwick is not network issues. Hopefully someone else will reply.

You're welcome. There's no other workaround if you want both open on the same screen. Is it that hard to switch between the two?
