Recovering over 50,000 photos

I pay for Apple’s cloud storage (2TB) and have over 50,000 photos. I was clearing off (Apple) Photos on my PC to recover space thinking I was only deleting locally. It moved all the cloud photos to the Recently Deleted folder.

the iCloud.com web does not have a recover all.

The iPhone Photos app does, but it fails without recovering a single photo. It will initially change from 50,000+ items to 127, and then a few second later all 50,000 are back in the Recently Deleted) folder.

Is there another way to recover them in bulk? I’ve got 28 days until Apple permanently deletes them. Again, I have tried Apple’s “Recover All” function, but it does not work at all. Recovering one by one works, but that would take approximately 69 days non-stop clicking at the rate one by one recovers.

Hi James Zeman,

We'll be glad to provide some information on this for you. To recover photos via the iCloud website, you'll need to follow the steps outlined in Delete and recover photos and videos on iCloud.com - Apple Support

Specifically:

"Recover photos and videos

  1. In Photos on iCloud.com, click the Recently Deleted album in the sidebar. If you don’t see the sidebar, click the Open Sidebar button.
  2. Select the photos or videos you want to recover, then click Recover."

That is the only option for recovering via the iCloud website. That being said, you can hold Shift + Click to select more than one photo. When using this option you can select the first photo, and the last photo and all images in between will be selected as well.

If you have images you don't want to restore, you can use Command + Click which allows you to select each image individually to choose specific images to restore.

We hope that helps.

Cheers.
