Emptying Trash hangs on "Emptying the Trash..." dialogue box

I've done safe mode several times. The problem goes away but always returns. I didn't see the issue on Sonoma 14.3, but it returned after a few days on 14.3.1. I've also run Disk Utility multiple times. Next step is a complete reinstall... which will irritate me quite a bit.

FIX THIS, APPLE!

simply clicking away the window at the grey x cross (right) works for me. Trash is empty and the window is gone, but still annoying

I just upgraded to Sonoma and the problem seems to have gone away. It's only day one though.

Same here, but this is a work-around without force-quitting the Finder: Click the cancel "x", empty again. You may have to repeat this 3 times, but it empties for sure after that.

yes I already stated from beginning that clicking away the window just works (I checked that trashed files are removed at the moment of the click) but yes it's annoying
