Instructions for exporting songs from the current version of GarageBand are covered in Export songs to disk from GarageBand on Mac:

"Export a song to disk

1. In GarageBand on Mac, choose Share > Export Song to Disk.
2. To rename the exported file, select the name in the Save As field, then enter a new name.
3. Choose a location to save the exported file from the Where pop-up menu.
4. Select the format for the exported file (AAC, MP3, AIFF, or WAVE).
5. Choose the quality setting for the exported file from the Quality pop-up menu.
6. To export only the part of the project covered by the cycle region, or only the part of the project defined by selected regions, select the “Export cycle region only, or length of selected regions” checkbox.
7. Click Export."

You may try those steps on the older version of GarageBand but the menu options may vary or be different.

Thanks for following up. Can you clarify which exact Mac model you're using? We see you mentioned a 2008 Mac and that it doesn't take USB, but a 2008 MacBook Pro should have USB ports: Find your Mac model name and serial number - Apple Support

For moving files between two computers, an external hard drive is a good option as long as you're able to connect one to your Mac. Otherwise, while OS X 10.6.8 does not support iCloud for syncing files, you could possibly email yourself the data that you need. Since you're running older software, we couldn't say for certain whether there are third-party cloud storage/syncing services that are compatible, but it might be worth looking into also.
