how do I create a new iCloud email address
Trying to setup a new iCloud email address (not an alias) for an existing iCloud account, is this possible?

Your Apple ID say example1@gmail is already signed in Mac system preferences .
New iCloud mail address will be a new Apple ID address say example2@icloud.com , when existing apples id is signed in ( its not being changed from appleid.apple.com ) , that can be created from Mac see the section - Create an Apple ID on the web
