Using Screen Protectors on a Mac:
No. Keep screen protectors and screen filters off of Macs. It can lead to overheating. If you are concerned for scratches, then keep a good eye on it, and store it somewhere no one else might touch and in a place where it will not fall.
Time for a New Screen?:
Just how deep and rugged is this scratch? If it could cause bodily harm, then it would be time for a new screen.
