Your instructions for Apple Mail are incorrect; there is no option for "Request Delivery Receipt" in View>Message. There is only "All Headers" and "Raw Source."

To add a delivery receipt to an outgoing email, you can follow these steps based on the popular email client applications:

  1. Gmail:
    • Compose a new email.
    • Click on the three dots menu icon at the bottom-right corner of the compose window.
    • Select "Request read receipt" from the options.
    • Finish composing your email and send it as usual.
    • Note that read receipts are not supported by all email clients, so you may not always receive a response.
  1. Microsoft Outlook (Desktop Application):
    • Compose a new email.
    • In the Options tab, click on the "Request a Delivery Receipt" checkbox in the Tracking group.
    • Finish composing your email and send it as usual.
    • Outlook will notify you when the email is successfully delivered to the recipient's mailbox. However, it doesn't guarantee that the recipient has read the email.
  1. Microsoft Outlook (Web version):
    • Compose a new email.
    • Click on the three dots menu icon (More options) in the toolbar at the bottom of the compose window.
    • Enable the "Request a Delivery Receipt" option.
    • Finish composing your email and send it as usual.
    • Similar to the desktop application, Outlook will notify you when the email is successfully delivered.
  1. Apple Mail (macOS):
    • Compose a new email.
    • In the menu bar, go to "View" > "Message" > "Request Delivery Receipt."
    • Finish composing your email and send it as usual.
    • Apple Mail will notify you when the email is successfully delivered to the recipient's mailbox.

Please note that the availability and functionality of delivery receipts may vary depending on the recipient's email client settings. Some recipients may have disabled or ignored the receipt request, and others may be using email clients that don't support this feature. Consequently, delivery receipts are not always reliable indicators of whether an email has been read or received.
