Locked account

I’ve attempted the password too many times and now my account is locked. What can I do? I miss having a computer 😭

I have not heard anything about iJail, but do need a little more info:

  • Is this the Mac login password when you startup your computer or the Apple ID?
  • Does the message specifically say that your Apple ID is locked?
  • When does the message come up?
  • Are you able to do a screen shot of the message?
  • Do you have a trusted device linked to your Apple ID other than your computer?
  • Is the software on your computer 12.2?

In any case here are the options:

  • For the Apple ID locked on your Mac, we have this support article:

If your Apple ID is locked or disabled - Apple Support

This states if the message says it is locked for security reasons, then you need to reset the password here:

If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support

The best options here are the first or second in the article depending on if you have a trusted device or trusted phone number set up. If no then you are stuck with the third option from that support article, which is to reset it from the iforgot website and it may take longer to verify your information. This may be what you are referring to by iJail. Without the trusted device or phone number, it makes it difficult to verify you are the owner of the Apple ID. iforgot site

  • If the message says your account is disabled in the App Store and iTunes Store then you can only contact Apple by choosing the last option in the previous "If your Apple ID is locked or disabled" link.

  • If it is the login password that you cannot remember, it usually does not come up with a locked message, but not positive on OS 12.2. If needed to steps for a forgotten login password is here:

Since you previously said you had done steps to unlock your Apple ID, which steps did you follow and can you verify that the reset worked by logging in at the Apple ID website and entering the new password here: https://appleid.apple.com
