iPhone’s (14P) Storage keeps filling up after I free up space, like within a few hours.

I will free up 3 or 4 gig and and a few hours (or the next day) it is full Again. I took screens shots of my storage

data and nothing looks like it has changed, no movies or anything down loading , the best I can tell .

I have done this several times and It keeps adding back the 4+ gigs to the iPhone storage screen?

and start showing full .

Hi dscottr,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand your storage space keeps filling up after you delete things on your iPhone. Oftentimes this can be because you have more photos and videos store in iCloud than can fit on your device. So you when you delete some data on your iPhone, iCloud will sync more photos to your device. You may consider turning on "Optimize iPhone Storage" in Settings > Photos. This article explains more about this: Manage your photo and video storage - Apple Support.

"Store your photos and videos in iCloud

By default, your photos and videos are stored on your device in their original, high-resolution version. This means that they use a lot of space on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. With iCloud Photos, you can make more space available on your device and still have access to your entire full-resolution collection wherever you go.

Get started with iCloud Photos:

  1. Tap Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos.
  2. Tap Sync this iPhone. In iOS 15 or earlier, tap to turn on iCloud Photos.
  3. Select Optimize iPhone Storage to save space on your device.

When Optimize Storage is turned on, full-resolution photos and videos are stored in iCloud, and, when needed, space-saving copies are stored on your device. And as long as you have enough space in iCloud, you can store as many photos and videos as you want."

Take care.

Understood dscottr,

When you review your storage - via the steps at How to check the storage on your iPhone and iPad - Apple Support - if storage is nearing full it should oftentimes provide you with suggestions on saving space. Do you see any and, if so, what options do you have?

Also, could you let us know the breakdown of storage that is shows? This way we know where to focus.

Cheers!

Hi dscottr,

It looks as though it is mostly apps, media, and photos. We would suggest utilizing the recommendations to optimize storage as listed below that may help:

To optimize your storage:
1. Tap Show All to see all the recommendations for your device.
2. Read the description of each recommendation, then tap Enable to turn it on or tap the recommendation to review the contents you can delete.
