Delete from all photos, but not albums

It seems to me there’s a lot of people wishing they could delete from all photos, but not have it affect whats in albums.

Decluttering, organizing, and deleting duplicates and or photos you just don’t need anymore would be a whole lot easier if you could just “select all” and delete them permanently EXCLUDING the ones that are in albums.

The reason we put them in albums is because they are our favourites for each category we call our albums. It’s just too time consuming to delete photos a handful at a time. I have 13,000 photos I just don’t have that kind of time. Apple programmers are brilliant. Seems to me that it would be extremely simple and it would make a lot of people happy.

Apple, can you please just create this option. Or create more ways to filter photos to make it easier to organize and delete excess photos.

The ones in my albums are my favorites. All the rest I would like to be able to select all and delete at once, but keep my favourites. Even an option for “show all except favorites”. Something!

thanks

Those are just different views of the library. The All Photos has all of the photos that are in the library. An album shows only those photos which you put in that album. The album does not have duplicates of what is in the All Photos view but are only pointers to those Photos. Albums are like Playlists in iTunes (now Music).

Here's how you can do what you want.

1 - select all the items in the All Photos view and give them a unique keyword like "all".

2 - create a smart album, All Photos in Library, with the condition: Keyword is "all".

3- when you add a photo to an album and want to remove it from the smart album just remove the keyword "all".
