Getting Apple Card back after Bankruptcy

My Apple Card was included in my chapter 7 bankruptcy. Im now trying to reapply and it says I already have one on my Apple ID. Has anyone gone through this and successfully gotten their card back?

The discharged account is tied to your Apple ID. You’ll need to create a second ID to use to apply for Apple Card MasterCard.

A second ID does create issues. Apple ID accounts cannot be merged. You will have to log out of one ID to use your apps and games purchased with the old ID. Subscriptions and other services will have to be manually changed fro old ID to new ID. It’s a hassle.

The real issue is the bankruptcy. Legally you don’t have the debt, but companies have their memories. Some banks etc. may choose to never do business with you again. Several banks I know operate that way. Fortunately, Goldman Sachs doesn’t seem to operate that way. However, I don’t know how much was involved, but that could affect their decision as well.

Generally banks will consider opening a credit card within 6 to 12 months after the bankruptcy. Your current employment, expenses, income and other factors will affect your credit worthiness. You may have to start with a secure credit card. Discover has secured cards, Capital 1, Bank of America are all good starter secured cards, after a bankruptcy, if you have to got that way.

I recommend creating a new Apple ID, applying for Apple Card and seeing what they say. Goldman does a soft pull of your FICO 9 score from TransUnion. FICO 9 scores are a little more lenient towards bankruptcies. If you approved great. If not, the decline will give you a framework for moving forward.

I've encountered the same issue. Despite more than three calls and waiting for over a month, I still haven't received a clear answer. They continue to escalate the issue, but it seems like they're searching for a 'stairway to heaven' rather than a solution. I've decided not to apply again. It's disrespectful that they can't provide a simple answer to my question: 'Why am I unable to apply?' They could simply inform me if I'm permanently banned due to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Instead, their response is always 'We don't know what happened.' I'm finished with Apple.
