iCloud photos

Hi, I deleted my photos from iCloud but they are still on my computer (iMac)and iPad. My question is will they stay on my computer and iPad after the 30days as seeing they haven't moved to recently deleted.

Thanks

Hi thewaihekerose,

In order to ensure that your photos remain on your Mac and are not deleted, you'll need to ensure that iCloud Photos is turned off on your Mac. This will keep your photos on your computer. If you're on the latest version of macOS Ventura 13.4.1, you'll need to select the Apple icon > System Settings > select your name at the top > iCloud. In this section you'll see Photos as you want to make sure this is turned off. This will keep the photos on your Mac to remain on your computer and not sync to iCloud for the photos that were deleted.

Hi thewaihekerose,

Thanks for posting here in Apple Support Communities. How did you delete the photos? Was it in the Photos app or did you use the iCloud website? Once you delete them, they should delete from all devices using iCloud Photos. Check out the links below as they may help to resolve the issue you're facing.

Thanks for the reply thewaihekerose.

If you deleted them from the iCloud website, that's where you will see them in the Recently Deleted folder. The Recently Deleted folder on your Mac or iPad is for when you delete from those devices.

If you'd like to recover them, you will want to do so from the iCloud website:

Recover photos and videos
1. In Photos on iCloud.com, click the Recently Deleted album in the sidebar.
2. If you don’t see the sidebar, click the Open Sidebar button.
3. Select the photos or videos you want to recover, then click Recover.

Are you trying to make sure they are permanently deleted from any device?

Or did you only want them removed from your iCloud Photos and just store photos on your devices?

Best regards.

I deleted them from the iCloud website on my computer through system preferences and my iCloud id and made it so they don't add them to iCloud anymore. But when I asked on here before was told that that would delete them from my photo library which it has not and it is telling me they will be permanently deleted from iCloud on the 26th of this month. that is why am unsure as to why they are still on my computer and not gone into recently deleted. Thanks for the links but am unsure how to put back when they haven't gone.
