timer hike mode

lots of questions similar to this but were no help, so here's my question, when I start a hike there are five categories on watch face, timer, beats per minute, elevation feet, total calories and elevation gained, how do I delete or get rid of the timer completely, you used to be able to add or rearrange the categories, I don't need the timer/stopwatch when I hike, I don't care how long it takes to do 5 miles I don't want the time running as It wears the watch battery down, so hitting the 3 dots in the workout/hiking mode does nothing, thanks for any input, Brett

Firstly the time elapsed display cannot be removed in any workout view editor.

Secondly removing any display elements will not improve battery consumption. Far more power can be saved by taking heart rate and gps readings less often and turning on low power mode. Both in iPhone, Watch app, My Watch tab, Workout
