Live Photos keep coming back on iCloud!
Hello!
I recently tried to remove the Live portion (.mov file) of my 10 000+ photos.
- I connected the phone on a Windows machine to access the files
- Using Powershell, I copied my phone content locally and ran a script that deleted all the .mov files linked to a photo with the same basename. It freed up about half of the storage. What a relief!
- I deleted all photos on iCloud, on all my devices as well as in "recently deleted"
- I made sure that there was no iCloud Photos remaining by running icloudpd: https://github.com/boredazfcuk/docker-icloudpd
- Confirmed: no photos remaining
- I manually imported the .heic files in the Photos app on my MBP.
- If I open the package content for file "Photos Library.photoslibrary" on my MBP, there is not a single .mov file there
- I let the MacBook Pro sync with iCloud again
- For some reason, looking at my iCloud storage, the photos take way more space than on my MBP. I therefore ran icloudpd again and WTF?!?! I see a bunch of .mov files (Live Photos) associated to my .heic files.
It almost seems like iCloud is pulling the Live part (.mov) out of its archive. I cannot come from anywhere else.
I tried the same on my girlfriend's iPhone, same thing.
Any idea?
Thanks!
