No notifications in Calendar

My notifications aren't working in Calendar, which is irritating since I rely on them to go to meetings, etc. Any suggestions? I've tried the answers in the various forums (ie all on in preferences, including focus). I suspect it may have something to do with the fact that I have Calendar on an external SSD and not on my boot drive. MacBook Pro running Monterey.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.6

Hello Leo,


If you've exhausted all other steps we do recommend moving your Calendar either to iCloud or to your local drive in order to test your alerts. You can also test this by creating a new Calendar event and alert on your Mac: Add or delete calendars on Mac - Apple Support


If you'd like to set up your Calendars on iCloud continue with this user guide: Set up iCloud for Calendar on all your devices - Apple Support
