Car entertainment system calls my own phone whenever connected via Bluetooth

I have seen this question a lot but no definitive solution. I believe the problem is within the phone , *not* the car infotainment system because I've had the same problem in two different cars, a Kia and a Mazda. When I get in the car, my iPhone connects to Bluetooth and before I can do anything, the Phone calling screen comes up on the display and shows my own number. All I hear is a static white noise sound and I can't switch to Music or any other mode until I 'end call' on the display. My phone never shows that a call was attempted. The car system continues to switch to calling mode until I disconnect Bluetooth. Yes, I am running the latest iOS.

I found another thread on this same topic, and someone suggested home monitoring apps that use Bluetooth may be the culprit. I have Ring, so I turned off Bluetooth in the Ring settings and so far it seems to have solved the problem!
