If you still need help, reset Face ID, then set it up again. Go to Settings, tap Face ID & Passcode, then tap Reset Face ID. Next tap Set up Face ID to set it up again.

If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro

If your iPhone has a history of Camera replacement / Repair / Service from an un-authorised service provider then it is possible that Apple may refuse to service your iPhone if it has been previously serviced by an unauthorized service center.

Parts and service history

With iOS 15.2 and later and iPhone XR, iPhone XS models, and later—including iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)—you can go to Settings > General > About for the parts and service history of your iPhone. You can also find out if the battery has been replaced. If the replacement was done using genuine Apple parts and processes, "Genuine Apple Part" will appear next to Battery.

I’m having the same issue and have tried everything except the factory reset my iPhone 13 Pro Max has never had any repairs or replacements. I couldn’t even get the reset face is to work “lower iPhone”, face not recognised etc. however I saw on one post that a gentle tap on the camera had worked for some. I kid you not doing that has at least let me reset the Face ID. I am going to get it checked, but may help some of you.

I am surprised Apple has chosen not to resolve this issue... I have searched everywhere - - and - - get the same "solutions" which of course does not work. NONE of them. I am not where I can just go to the Genius Bar - nor should I have to do that! Apple phones are suppose to be easy to work, easy to trouble shoot and use... Now the security of my phone is at risk due to the facial recognition no longer working... Rather upsetting.

How would you expect Apple to resolve an issue that is NOT effecting many people? This is by no means an issue which many people are having at all. I realize that may not help you, but waiting for Apple to do something for an issue which isn't an issue facing the majority of its users isn't going to help you. Since you tried unnamed "solutions" and nothing works, you need to get help from Apple directly.

I uploaded my iOS to 16.5.1 and now I can’t use my facial login anymore. What do I do?
