I have to flip the usb-c side over every time I try to charge my phone

Why do I have to flip the usb-c side of my charging cable over, every time I plug it in, to get the phone to start charging? The one outlet I can use for charging is under a table and crawling on my hands and knees to flip a cable over is ridiculous. It’s literally every time. It should work either way every time. Or, at least the same way as last time. Or even flipping it over at the lightning side, but NO, gotta make me crawl EVERY TIME. Do you guys have a solution for this? One that’s not gonna require my to purchase something (therefore increasing your company’s waste footprint) or do I just have to deal with it until I purchase my next phone?
