Are my AirPods fake?/ can’t use find my app

I managed to lose my left airpod while I was sleeping. It fell out of my case somehow and now I can’t find it. I tried using the Find My app to play the sound like everyone recommends, but it will either play the sound from the case, or play the sound from the right AirPod, but no matter how loud i play music or play the sound from the airpod I still cannot find it. So now I’m wondering if my AirPods are possibly fakes or if there is something wrong with them. I’m not sure what gen my AirPods are but I know they are pros.

The best way to make sure the AirPods are not fake is to buy from Apple or authorized Apple seller. I say this only because there are a lot of fake AirPods being sold on sites. They may look identical, but features and quality will be lacking. Here is a good article published this month about spotting fake AirPods. The conclusion was that unless you did a side by side comparison, you would not be able to determine which were fake. The fake ones did lack sound quality and some features like noise cancellation did not work at all.

Note the two requirements listed for sound when seeking lost AirPods:

The AirPods must be near one of your Apple devices
It must be connected to Bluetooth
