Default browser keeps reverting back to Safari at startup

I keep setting Google chrome as my default browser but every time I restart it reverts backs to Safari as my default browser. Do I need to delete one of the user preferences files? Or is it something else?

If you open safari, goto preferences>general you will be able to set which browser acts as default. Once you do close the preferences window then quit safari. logout or reboot and all should be well.

if safari keeps coming back as default, then go to ~/Library/Preferences/ and delete:
com.apple.safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
com.apple.safari.plist
com.apple.safari.rss.plist

And repeat the set above. This should work.
