Not Receiving Group Messages

I just noticed that a group text in my iPhone 13 Pro Max has stopped receiving messages. At this time, it appears to only be one group text, which seems odd since we are all iPhone users. I can send a message through the group text and the others receive my message, but I am not receiving their replies. I have rebooted my phone several times, checked to make sure the MMS and Group Text Messages options are ON, and even deleted the conversation and restarted a new thread (twice). Nothing works. It was working fine before this last update (16.5.1). Please help. Thank you!

Hello SB6262,

We would like to see how we can help you with group messages. If you’re in a group message and stop receiving messages, check to see if you left the conversation. Open Messages and tap the group message. If you see a message that says you left the conversation, then either you left the conversation or you were removed from the group message. You can rejoin a group message only if someone in the group adds you. Let's check the storage available for the device currently as well. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage, and let us know how much avaiable space you have.

"If you still need help

  • Try to restart your iPhone or iPad.
  • Check your network connection. To send a message as iMessage or MMS, you need a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection. To send an SMS message, you need cellular network connection. If you turn on Wi-Fi Calling, you can send SMS messages over Wi-Fi.
  • Check with your carrier to see if the type of message you’re trying to send, like MMS or SMS, is supported.
  • If you’re trying to send group MMS messages on an iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and turn on MMS Messaging. If you don't see an option to turn on MMS Messaging or Group Messaging on your iPhone, then your carrier might not support this feature.
  • Make sure that your device has enough space to receive images and videos.
  • Make sure that you entered the correct phone number or email address for the contact."

Cheers!

Thank you, Sean_B1. I have plenty of storage on my phone (125.6 GB used of 512 GB) and I have not left the conversation nor was I removed as someone in the group sent me a screenshot of their message which included me. I had already rebooted my phone several times and that did not resolve the issue. After double (and triple) checking everything on my phone, I asked the other two people to reboot their phones as a last resort. Each one sent me a message within the group text stating "Done" and I received both messages. YAY!!! Issue resolved. Hopefully, this information is helpful for others experiencing the same frustration.
