Move to iOS from Android is very unfriendly; why doesn’t it ask the user to carefully
choose what they want to transfer before just going ahead? Now, finally, we have all the WhatsApp history transferred, but no contacts or SMS messages!

Wondering if you used the "Move to iOS" app that is available to make the transfer:
Move from Android to iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Eg: Step 7 says: "On your Android device, select the content that you want to transfer and tap Continue".
