iPhone iOS 16.5.1 - Calendar Battery Drain

Hi - At random times, my iPhone battery will drain very quickly and, by checking battery usage, the culprit seems to be the calendar app running in the background. I've searched online and tried a few of the tricks, including unpairing my Apple Watch and reconnecting, and nothing seems to work.

As a workaround that helped in previous iterations, I deleted the calendar app and reloaded it. At present, that doesn't seem to do the trick. This is an iPhone 14 running iOS 16.5.1. The battery drains from 100% charge to about 50% in 4 hours without using the phone at all.

Any solutions? Thank you!

Thank you, bryanr14! Appreciate the suggestions. In addition to the suggestions you propose, I decided to delete the calendar app, which has currently solved my issues. I downloaded a free calendar app that seems to be adequate in providing calendar visibility on my phone. More importantly, however, the calendar functionality on the Outlook app suffices in notifying me regarding meetings and other scheduled events. Who knew I could go without the battery-hogging, native calendar app on my phone? I'm guessing the native app found itself in some circular computing vortex that kept draining my battery, which was temporarily solved by deleting and reinstalling the app and/or restarting the phone, but the game got a little old. Thanks, again, for your help!

Hello HarryHaller09,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand that the battery on your iPhone appears to be draining rapidly. We can help point you in the right direction.

If you haven't tried yet, we recommend to see if there's any recommendations listed to help optimize the battery by going to Settings > Battery. In addition, let's ensure that Auto-Brightness is turned on in Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Auto-Brightness. This will help reduce the overall brightness based on the lighting condition.

Now if that doesn't help, we recommend for you to contact Apple Support as they can review this further for you. You can contact them by using this link here: Get Support
