Keep Edge logged in with passwords

I'm using Edge on a Win 11 PC and have installed the icloud extension to sync my passwords. Every time I close and reopen the browser the icloud password icon on the Edge toolbar has a cross through it (logged out) and I have to click on it and enter the six digit code to initialise it again. I can't see any settings which control this feature. Is there a way to keep the browser connected to the ichain passwords without having to enter the six digit code each time I open the browser. I must be missing something..
