Play next vs play later, no difference

I'm using the latest version of Music and trying to add an album to the up next list. Whether I choose play next or play later it adds it to the top of the list. How do I add an album to the end of the list? What's the point of "play later" and "play next" if they do effectively the same thing?

Hi,

I use this function regularly. Play next does what says, play later adds track to bottom of existing list. If there is no tracks in the list, play next and play later will be the same.

Interesting, what you described is what I would expect, but it does not happen. When there is an existing list of songs Playing Next clicking "Play Later" on the song in Music adds it to the very top of the list, same as clicking "Play Next"

See this old thread -- Play next vs play later, no difference - Apple Community. I was hoping something had changed, but I guess not.
