iOS Shortcuts to toggle mobile data for a specific app

I travel frequently and I want to enable/disable mobile data access for most app which I have to do manually 😅 for eg. only keep mobile data on roaming for WhatsApp ,Safari Google Maps and Find My .But every time I come back to my home country I have to manually re-enable for all apps and then the same charade goes on because of the many many apps on my phone 😅

Is there any shortcut that can enable disable data for specific apps ?

Hi, Thanks for asking,

Yes, You can create an iOS Shortcut to toggle mobile data access for specific apps. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you create such a shortcut:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone.
  2. Click on the "+" button to create a new shortcut.
  3. Tap on "Add Action" to add actions to your shortcut.
  4. In the search bar, type "Cellular Data" and select the "Set Cellular Data" action.
  5. Tap on the "Off" button to set the initial state of mobile data to be turned off for the selected apps.
  6. Tap on the "Add Action" button again.
  7. In the search bar, enter "Open App" and choose the "Open App" action.
  8. Click on the "Choose" button and select the app you want to toggle mobile data access for. Repeat this step for each app you want to include.
  9. Tap on the "Add Action" button once more.
  10. In the search bar, type "Cellular Data" and select the "Set Cellular Data" action.
  11. Tap on the "On" button to set the state of mobile data to be turned on for the selected apps.
  12. Tap on the "Next" button.
  13. Enter a name for your shortcut, such as "Toggle Mobile Data for Specific Apps."
  14. Tap on the "Done" button to save your shortcut.

Now you have created a shortcut to toggle mobile data access for specific apps. When you run the shortcut, it will turn off mobile data for the selected apps, and when you rerun it, it will turn on mobile data for those apps.

You can run the shortcut manually from the Shortcuts app or add it to your home screen for quick access. To do this, go to the shortcut settings, tap "Add to Home Screen," and choose an icon for the shortcut.
