Transferring contacts between Google account to ICloud

Somewhere along the many years of ownership i have some how changed the way new contacts are created on my iPhone from the Apple iCloud account to an old Google account - this has caused a sync issue (Only recently discovered) if i didnt add the Google account to other devices - ie iPad or iMac. The contacts would show as just the number even if the contact is created recently on the iPhone.

So my question is - how do i now transfer or sync contacts from the google account to my iCloud account. I have this turned on in iCloud settings but so far it’s not doing it. I need to move the 150ish contacts from the Google account to the iCloud, or do i have to re input them?

iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 17

Hello Paulhaiz,

If you're already signed in to iCloud on the iMac, iPad, and iPhone, then you'd want to use the Mac to accomplish these steps. Follow these steps to transfer your contacts from Google to iCloud:

  1. Ensure you're sign in to iCloud: Set up iCloud on your Mac (And that Contacts are enabled for iCloud.)
  2. Export the contacts from Google: Export, back up, or restore contacts Export them as vCard file.
  3. Then import them to the Mac: Import contacts into Contacts on Mac (These steps are for Ventura, select your macOS version at the top for more specific steps.)

iCloud should update the contacts given some time. If you're signed in to iCloud on your associated Apple devices, these contacts should appear there shortly, as well.

Hoping this helps out.

Take care.
