Buggy Notes app

Typing on my Notes app on my new (refurbished) IPhone 14 OS 16.5.1 is terrible compared with my old IPhone 7. While typing a word, the cursor randomly jumps to a place down below, and if I don’t notice in time it messes up what I’ve written. I’ve also had trouble with auto-correct, which used to be helpful on my old phone but now it misses offering fixes for simple typos or entire wrong words pop into my text. Had to turn it off altogether. Thirdly the second text menue usually available below which I used a lot to change letter size, etc… sometimes disappears, leaving only the limited menu that pops up when you highlight a letter or word. How can I fix these issues?
