What businesses actually accept Apple Cash From the Wallet application on iphone and Apple Watch.

Hello to Everyone in the Apple Support Community.

I'm trying to find out if there is a list of stores that accept and do not accept Apple Cash from the Wallet App on my iphone and Apple watch.

Just to be clear. When I have researched this topic already through a simple google search it brings up results on what stores accept Apply Pay and that is not what I looking for. I am specifically looking for stores that accept the Apply Cash card that are within Wallet app through the devices I mentioned above.

Just to give an example of how I use the Apple Cash card.

I will go stores like CVS, Target, Sweetgreen, and wawa and use my Apple Cash Card there and it will work just find, but when I go to a place like 7-11 it get declined even though 7-11 is store that clearly accepts Apple Pay.

if there is anyone that can help with this it would be greatly appreciated.

The Apple Cash card presents itself to the banking system as a Visa Debit Card, not a Credit Card. Some merchants may not like taking debit cards.

The bottom line is that there is NO official list of merchants that accept the Apple Cash card as payment.

Thanks.

I know zero about 7-11’s business operations, but I suspect that individual stores (or groups of stores) are independently owned and operated …

… and that they independently contract for their own banks, and card service processors / acquirers and that they have the latitude to establish their own credit/debit acceptance and risk management policies.

Additionally, you might find this blog post interesting. It provides a detailed, but quite understandable primer on how ApplePay works from a payments-processing technical perspective:

Just an FYI post. Apple Cash identifies itself as a prepaid debit card. The differences between a prepaid card and debit card are large. I’ll leave it at that.

When you attempt to pay at the pump, most merchants will hit you with a hold. Individual stations may be corporate owned or a franchise with most brands of gas. The hold is to protect the merchant from losses of drive offs, basically people that will steal gas.

If you go inside, the hold is not necessary. You tell the clerk that you want $20 of gas and if your debit/prepaid debit card has $$$$ on it, you’re good.

I can’t say with a 100% certainty, but I’d be shocked if you could use a prepaid debit at the pump.

Happy to share what I know, but if your read my comments about, you’ll understand the context of what I’m sharing above.

I hope this helps.

Apple Cash can be transferred to bank accounts. However, when spending Apple Cash, it’s not like Venmo debit or credit card. Apple Cash does not have a physical card to swipe or insert for chip read. Apple Cash is only a virtual card the lives in the Wallet app and must be used in conjunction with Apple Pay. Hence, Apple Cash is accepted by any merchant that accepts Apple Pay or Tap-To-Pay.

I found myself driving-by a 7-11 this morning and recalled this thread.

Successfully completed an “indoor” transaction using AppleCash. (image attached)

(Unfortunately the fuel pumps at this particular location didn’t incorporate NFC readers; so this was IMO only a “partial test.”)

So … while not at all disputing your own experiences … it doesn’t appear to be a “Global 7-11” restriction.

So as I stated above.

this is not about anywhere you can use Apple Pay this is about using Apple cash.

Apple Pay and Apple cash and two different things.

Apple Pay is the service we use to pay for goods and services

Apple Cash is similar to a Venmo card that is issue by Venmo itself.

Apple cash is Apple's version of Venmo card.

the answer I am looking for is based on what stores accepts the Apple Cash card using

using Apple Pay.

This is exactly what happens when I go to the 7-Eleven. The amount will be for like $1.59. I will double tap my Apple Watch and I have the Apple Cash Card as my default payment method on my Apple Watch when I tap my Apple Watch with the terminal. The terminal itself says the input is not accepted but, but don’t receive any get response back from my watch about anything saying it’s been declined.

Nope, your post(s) were spot-on.

I’m also quite familiar w/ the “authorization / holds” for fueling. Most around here seem to be abt $125 or $150.

I was disappointed that NFC wasn’t avail on the pumps; I’d significantly “plussed-up” my AppleCash specifically to eliminate lack of funds as a potential cause for any “decline.”

The “inside” POS test was only to prove/disprove any “Blanket 7-11 prohibition” as alluded-to in the original post.

Unlike most other areas where I’ve lived, 7-11’s are pretty “few and far between” ‘round here.
